How to Make a "Fish Tail" Braid

Nice iridescent "fish-tail" or "spike" hair braids look great on thick, straight and shiny hair. This method of hair braiding allows for the reflection of light in all directions, creating an effect of aurora. For special occasions, decorate your hair with rhinestones (sold in many stores). They are glued to the studs and in any order along the entire length of the braid.

MATERIALS NEEDED
Elastic band, hair ornaments

HAIR BRAIDING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Comb the hair to the back. To begin hair braiding, separate two thin hair strands, one strand starting from the left temple and another from the right temple. Each strand should be about 2,5 cm thick.
2. Cross over the strands - the right strand over the left one.
3. Holding the strands with your right hand and holding them to the head, grab a new strand from the left strand with your left hand. A new strand must be of the same size as the previous one.
4. Now cross the new strand from the left over the right strand, putting it on top, and press to the head with your left hand.
5. Use your right hand to get a new strand from the right. Cross the new right strand with the increased left strand, overlaying it on top, and press to the head with your right hand.
6. Repeat the step 5 till the hair braid reach the neck.
7. Continue to weave a "fishtail" hair braid, pulling strands from the "horse's tail" and twisting their center. (Although the hair isn't fixed with an elastic, it will still come down along the back as a "horse's tail").
8. Fasten the end of the hair braid with an elastic band. If you prefer, you can pin hair ornaments.

How to Make a 4-Strand Hair Braid

This hair style is not very difficult as it may look. It only requires a bit more concentration and a little of practice - and your hair will be securely arranged into beautiful braids that will bring something new to the look and your feelings in general

Once you have got the hang of it, you can braid with any even number of strands. The only limitation would be how fast your fingers can plait.

Step 1. Arrange your hair into a pony tail.
Step 2. Divide your pony into four strands with two strands on top and two below. Do not make four strands side by side. As you braid, hold the right strands (top and bottom) in your right hand and the left strands (top and bottom) in your left hand. I pass the strands between my middle to pinky fingers and then use my index finger and thumb to put the strands back and forth as I braid.
Step 3. Now you will need to take the top right strand over the top left strand, and take the bottom right strand over the bottom left strand and pull really firm. This will be the base of your braid. The rest of the braid can be done not so firmly.
Step 4. Now switch the positions of the top left strand with the bottom right strand passing the top strand behind the bottom strand. The crossing must be beneath and between the original top right and bottom left strands. The original top left strand becomes now the new bottom right strand and the original bottom right strand becomes the new top left strand.
Step 5. It's time to switch the positions of the top right strand with the bottom left strand passing the top strand behind the bottom strand. The crossing must be held beneath and between the new top right and bottom left strands. The original top right strand becomes the new bottom left strand and the original bottom left strand becomes the new top right strand.
Step 6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 and tie off when the braid is done.

French Braided Bun

This is a pretty and easy hair style to do as long as you are familiar with the technique of French braiding!

These are some instructions on how to arrange your hair into a beautiful French braided bun:

Step 1. Make two French braids on both sides of your head similar to the way you do pigtails. You can start anywhere you want, e.g. behind the hairline or other places.
Step 2. When the braids are finished, tie the ends of your braids off.
Step 3. Wrap one of the braids into a bun and then wrap another braid around the first bun.
Step 4. Secure the bun with bobby pins or claw clips.

Enjoy your hair style for a long time because it is very secure and will last on your head for a good day if not more.

You can leave the tips of the braids loose and arrange them up your head similar to this:

Original Braid

Comb hair to the nape. Use hair spray or hair foam and comb once again.
Part your hair on the temple from the right side and start braiding. Divide the lock on the temple into 3 parts and twist it to the classical braid, step by step braid new locks into the hair. Thus make the braid till your left ear. Then go on braiding, streaming it to the right side – to the right ear. After this, change the direction and go on braiding.

Fix the hair with hair spray.

How To French Braid Hair (description)

There are two ways to French braid hair: ordinary and backward braiding.

Let’s see how to get an ordinary French braid. Thoroughly brush dry or slightly wet hair and comb it back. To begin the braid, start by dividing it into 3 equal pieces.

Hold the right most piece in the right hand. The other two pieces will be in your left hand. Begin with rolling your left hand crossing the left piece over the central piece and passing them both into your right hand.

Take the lower piece in your left hand and put the right strand over the top. Starting with this left strand, we’ll add more hair into the braid. This will be French braiding. Take the hair into your left hand and cross it over on the top of the other two. Take with your left hand a new portion of hair and bring it over the top of the last braided piece. This will make one bigger strand. Go on braiding in a usual way. Grab a small amount of hair from the right side and act in the same way as you did with the left strand. Don’t forget to keep the braid tight not to lose it.

Classical Braid

One or two braids can be done in the manner described below.
If you want to braid your hair, the first thing you should do is thoroughly comb dry or slightly wet hair and comb it back. Part the hair to 3 equal locks: right, left and central.

Прическа для длинных волос «Классическая коса»

Take the right lock in the right hand, and the central lock in the left hand. Overlay the right lock with the central one.

Now the central lock becomes the right one. Take the braided locks in the right hand and the left lock in the left hand.

The left lock should be laid over the central one. Now take the left lock (the former left one) with your left hand.

And now put the right lock over the central one, then the left lock over the central. Braid the plait in such a way till it's needed. Fix the plait with a bow or hair pin.

If needed, you can braid a bow into the hair. To do so, the bow is fixed with the right and left lock.
To make two plaits, divide hair into 2 equal parts. To make it easier, pin the left lock back and start braiding the right lock.

When you finish the right plait, start the left one.

Hair Layers (The Pleat)

1. Part the hair into three sections and secure with ribbon a few inches from the ends so that you've got good control over each section. Twist the first side section over your hand into a sausage shape and secure along its length with fine pins.

2. Sweep the second side section over the first and secure.

3. Arrange top hair so it sweeps over the crown, ends secured into the original pleat.

The chignon

1. Brush hair carefully and evenly to the point on the crown or the nape of the neck where you want the chignon to rest. Secure into a pony tail using a coated elastic band or a piece of thin ribbon.

2. Twist the pony tail into a spiral, using both your hands.

3. Coil the pony tail down around the base, making it as large or as small as your hair length dictates. Tuck the loose ends into the outside edge of the chignon and pin carefully, using fine hairpins.
